Did Paul Really Write Ephesians?

My non-academic readers may find this surprising, but there is a large segment of the scholarly community that questions whether or not Paul actually wrote Ephesians and Colossians.

I found a great quote about this debate from N. T. Wright on one of my favorite blogs - Mark Owen's The New Testament Roundtable. Owens is a ThM student at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Make sure you add his blog to your favorites--he is always worth reading.

Hi Michael,

I met you when you spoke in our new hall at SS. Peter & Paul in Wilmington CA - great talk!

Any way, did you ever hear that old Stan Freeberg(sp?) radio skit about a famous future Archeologist telling the world about the legendary "We-ins" (us USers) ruled from "Pound-Laundry" (Washington)? He and his crew break into the sacred precincts of "Maces Bargain Basement" to view its wonders with profound misunderstanding.

It reminded me of those "Higher Criticism" folks who always seemed to find what they wished to in any Scripture text. After all, how can one become famous by affirming that St. Paul actually wrote those letters? Where's the fun in that?

I'm praying for your Uncle!
