Radio Interview with Dr. Pitre Today

Brant and I will make our third appearance together on the hugely popular radio show Catholic Answers Live, which is syndicated worldwide.

The interview begins at 3pm Pacific Time (or 6pm Eastern).

Today's topic: Jesus and the Priesthood.

Here's a synopsis:
The book of Hebrews makes it clear that Jesus is the true Priest, but did Jesus himself give any indication during his ministry that was carrying out a priestly role? Moreover, is there any evidence that he believed he would establish a new ministerial priesthood?

Tune in to find out...

You can listen live by going here and clicking the link "Listen Live via EWTN" (look for the moving yellow bars above the calendar).

We always have so much fun doing this. In fact, this morning over the phone Brant shared some fascinating observations with me which I have never heard anyone else ever make. I'm so honored to know this guy!

The podcast of the show is now available at Catholic Answers' website. Click on the calendar and follow the link. By the way, if you're interested in the topic keep your eyes glued to this site. We've got a lot more to say on this topic.

Awesome show guys! You both say so many things I have never heard before and I consider myself pretty well-read!

Linking Isaiah 66 to Matthew 19 was brilliant. I've been reading that over and over since the show. And I've never seen the casting of lots from Acts 1 as a priestly description of the role of the apostles. How have I missed the connection between Luke 1 and Acts 1? Soooo amazing!

When are you going to be on again?! You guys have so much depth it's really a contrast from other Catholic apologists.

Keep up the great work!

(Have you guys considered doing a regular podcast? I think it would be great!)

You two are GREAT. I just downloaded and listened today (Sunday). This is one of those shows that I'm not sending to the recycle bin, but keeping on the hard drive.

Brant, do you ever come out to local church parishes to give talks? If so, where can I get more information?

Michael, I'll be asking my small library to purchase a copy of Coming Soon. I don't know if they'll be able to buy it. If they can't I plan on asking them to make an interlibrary loan so I can read it. (I spent my book budget already this month on Jesus of Nazereth by Pope Benedict XVI and Belloc's The Crusades.)

Michael & Dr. Pitre,

This was a fantastic CA show…. I have listened to it 5 times so far. This is the GOOD stuff that everyone needs to hear. I have a podcast, that I produce weekly, and I have decided to do this week on the Priest hood. You have inspired me! I will point my listeners to this CA show as well as to this blog. You know… in pre-paring for this topic, I have discovered that there is just not enough resources on the web dealing with the Priesthood and its Theological/Scriptural backing. There’s plenty of “stuff” but not nearly enough really GOOD “stuff”. We need more!

What about Rev 1 where St. John says Jesus made them a Kingdom of priests? Is that a literal reference to the priesthood or is that just a spiritual reference to the sacrifice of our hearts… the pure sacrifice spoken of in the Psalms, Malachi etc?

God Bless and Thanks for your work

Hello again,

I hope you read these posts... I was reading the Epistle of Barabus and it referenced an Old Testament notion that the Priest would consume the sin offering along with drinking the vinegar... can you point me to a OT passage to this effect? I can't find a verse that speaks of the vinegar portion of this... Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks & God Bless
