Big Eschatology Conference This Weekend!

For those of you who don't already know,
Michael and I will be in Lubbock, Texas this weekend speaking at a conference on:

Jesus and the End Times:
A Catholic View of the Last Days

It's going to be tons of fun. Here are some of the (working) talk titles:

1. The Destruction of the Temple and the End of the World (Pitre)

2. The Tribulation, the Antichrist, and the Resurrection (Pitre)

3. The Final Judgment and the New Creation (Pitre)

4. Who is the Whore of Babylon? (Barber)

5. The Davidic Kingdom, the Lost Tribes of Israel, and the Church (or something like this-Barber)

We are also very excited to be speaking with David Currie, a good friend and a master of biblical eschatology. He will be discussing rules for reading apocalyptic and prophetic literature as well as giving a talk rebutting the novel Darbyian doctrine of the secret "Rapture." (My apologies to Chris Tilling, I know you're a big-time rapturist!)

If you're one of the unlucky ones and can't go, you can always go to my website and purchase my own full-length Bible study on Jesus and the End-Times (got to feed the kids, you know!) at

I like rapture theology as much as a Protestant fundamentalist likes wearing Catholic priestly robes for preaching in church!

I sure do learn a lot from your posts . I wish I could take some classes from Brant and you.

Thought I'd pass this Meme on to you, which was passed on to me from a fellow Catholic blogger here in the southland. (So. Cal.)

The rules for this meme:

(1) Link to the person that tagged you.

(2) Post the rules of the meme on your blog.

(3) Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.

(4) Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.

(5) Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

Looking forward to your reply.

I only got to catch the last part of the seminar in Lubbock, but it was wonderful. Thank you for inspiring me to learn more about the faith and dig deep into scripture. God bless.

Please, in the future, if you are going to hold a conference, let us know a month or so in advance so we can plan to attend. I am sick I missed this one. Will there be tapes available from this one? Please post the information if so, Thanks and God bless, Anne Moore

Dear Anne,
Sorry about that! All of my conferences are listed on my website at But you're definitely right that we should have some way of putting that info on the blog. I'll talk to Michael about it and try to figure something out. Otherwsie, you can get the tapes from St. Joseph, or order my lectures from (see Jesus and the End Times set).

Sorry, and hope to see you in the future!
(We'll be doing a conference on the West Coast next January; you may want to block off the time.)

I'd like to know the names of the conference attendees and the names of their lectures that favored an apocalyptic Jesus and who believe that the Gospel writers, or Jesus, and/or Paul and the author of Rev. simply were mistaken in their prophecies of near final judgment of the world.

I don't understand your request. None of the speakers favored "an apocalpytic Jesus" who was wrong about the final judgment of the world.
What makes you think anyone said Jesus was "mistaken"? (That's not the Catholic Church's position, by the way.)
